Hi everyone from the UK,

We don't own any birds but are looking at including one in our family. We have reptiles and our home is a plant oasis! We understand the importance of researching beforehand.

Our first question that we are looking at is how do parrot owners entertain birds kept on their own during the day as the majority of pet owners are working. Will search through the forum for topics on this.

We are looking at a lovebird - open to opinions and advice. We have a daughter who is 5 years old so wanting an outgoing and inquisitive breed. We would want to find a breeder who has hand raised the bird. Amazon's and African Grey would be a little bit too ambitious for us.

Really happy to be able to use this forum as a way to learn before deciding.

You sound like our kind if folks. Good for you for researching. There are ways to amuse alone bird... tv, toys, two-way cams. foods/snacks/etc. Indeed, just search for parrot toys here ad you'll get a lot. Plus, we have a toy-maven here, a Mod, Terry57, who can coach you.
Just stick with us, keep reading... I foresee a ha journey for you.

Thanks so much! Will take a look. Also saw that UVB is used for birds. That wasn't around back in the day. We use them for our reptiles and bio active setups. Will take a look on the forum.
