I have a 10 mo. old galah. I drive carriages and have a cattle farm in 1000 islands, NY(scottish highland) and two dogs. I have limited computer skills. I am new to galah's and have questions about sexing, powder, and maturity.

Hello and welcome! I would love to see pictures of your Galah!
There are lots of people here who have Galahs and I am sure they would love to answer your questions:)

thank you, I guess my first question is , do Galahs have as much powder as white toos? My Galah, Pumpkin, doesn't seem to be very powdery.

Sexing Galahs is by their iris and eye ring as the males have blackish brown iris while the female have the copper red iris, but this can only be done once they reach adulthood which I think you can tell when they're around a year old or so but they reach maturity around 3 to 4 years of age.

Like the other Cockatoos they have the powder dust but how bad, I'm not sure as I've never owned one.

Welcome to the forum!!

My galah is not very dusty at all, and regular baths help with keeping dust down to a minimum.

Even though they don't sexually mature until 2-3 years old, sometimes their iris color will change around 1 year old....but even then, iris color is not always a very good indicator of gender. The best way to know is to have your avian vet do a DNA test.
