So I didnt post here when I first joined. Might as well!
My name is Kristopher (Im a guy, my family is Irish and all of us have 'K' names) and i'm 28 years old from Bellingham, Washington. I had birds from the time I was 11 or 12 until I was 18 but had to re-home them due to me going to serve in the Marine Corps Infantry. I had a budgie, lovebird and cockatiel. I also volunteered at a bird store helping hand rear baby birds (mostly cockatoos and amazons) and hand taming birds that people brought in. Had a lot of bandaids haha. Ive been wanting to get another bird since I got out of the military in '06 but wanted to make sure I was stable and had the time to give to a bird as they are life long companions.
So I had an amazing opportunity to adopt an 18 year old SI Eclectus named Scarlet. She came with a huge cage and tons of toys from a lady who couldnt take care of her anymore for free because she knew it was going to a good home. She had a shaky first couple days here which is obvious and understandable but she is really breaking out of her shell and she is a sweet bird (most of the time, wow, they really are moody haha). She is quite the talker! She talks all the time and has a pretty decent vocabulary and is learning extremely fast. She already learned how to say hi to our puppy lol. She LOVES eggs and turkey/chicken and of course various fruits and veggies.
Im happy to be a part of this forum as there is lots of good information and good people here. Ill be sticking around here for sure
Thanks to all the people who have helped me so far. Gathering information is one thing, having affirmation from others in the same shoes is a whole different thing and its good to have a community of people for just that.
