Hello my name is tonya. My bird is mea she has tree sap on her head.bw:confused:ondering how to get it off if anyone knows a safe way or can tell me sap is dangerous for her please let me know. She got from chewing on her wood that we made for her but I did not know it was on their.

Safe or not depends on the type of "wood". Do you know what type? I can't really think of any thing to remove it with other than some type of oil, olive oil, peanut butter, that you could rub into the feathers. I'm not sure i would mess with it, does it bother her? You could always pluck the bad feathers, they'll grow out next molt.

They do make shampoo for birds you can try, I'd taker to the vet if plan to pluck her feathers...

What type of wood did you use? I believe fresh pine can produce turpentine, which is QUITE sticky and not safe for birds at all. I'd be VERY careful getting it off your bird. Best take her to a vet for the procedure. :)
