Hi everyone!
I've been referring to these forums for quite some time to see answers from all you talented folks on all my Amazon parrot questions and finally decided to join.
I am from the Caribbean and have one orange winged amazon who is almost 8 years old. He is amazing! Interestingly he has been developing more yellow belly feathers recently and I am wondering if I should be worried. He eats lots of veggies and fruits daily and seeds aren't his primary food. Would love to hear from you guys. Forgive me if I'm bringing up a topic that's already been discussed, I'm new but would like to be pointed in the right direction.
Love hearing all the stories and seeing the pics of these awesome birds...

Hello and welcome to the forums! Glad you joined us!

I don't know if you've had a chance to browse the diet section but there's a lot of great info, tips and recipes.

Parrot Food, Recipes and Diet - Parrot Forum - Parrot Owner's Community

We have a fantastic group of Amazon parronts, I'm sure they'll be happy to answer your species specific questions.

Yellow feathers in the wrong place can indicate problems such as liver disease, but before jumping to that conclusion I would look into some possibilities such as

Is it normal for my species to acquire this coloring at this age?
Is it possible that my bird could be a hybrid and have another kind of Amazon in his pedigree that could/should develope thee feathers at this time?

I'm not very familiar with Amazon species or coloring, so I would not be the person to answer these questions for you. Best of luck and welcome!

Hi welcome! :)

If you post a pic of the bird in a thread in the Amazon section of the forum, we have many experienced Amazon owners who will be able to assist you. Sounds like your bird should have a blood test for organ values at any rate.

Another member comes to mind here, prsgirl77 as she's in the Carribean and has Amazons including an Orange Winged.

Welcome to the forum. Yes post a picture or two in the amazon section. However yellow feathers sometimes replace green feathers that have been damaged at some point. (true for amazons anyway)
