Hi, my name is Mark and I'm the proud acquaintance of two beautiful birds. Prometheus is my conure. He's been with me for 7 yrs. He picked me when he was 6 mo. old. No one seems to be able to decide exactly what kind of conure he is, but he doesn't care.

This past weekend I was given care of a rescue bird; an eclectus male named Squeakers. He seems very tame and relaxed. His former owner never took him out of his cage and fed him seeds. Since he came to live with me he's getting the same menu as Prometheus; pellet, fresh fruits and veggies, cereals, pasta, birdy bread, oat groats, etc. He's very interested in the new foods and has already tried the apples and cherries. Yesterday he played with a carrot stick for a while but I don't know if he sampled it. LOL

Squeakers is molting so he looks a little rough right now. Yesterday he spent my entire lunch hour on my shoulder watching me make and eat lunch. He nibbled a little wheat bread and decided that he does NOT like kosher pickles. After work today we'll see how he does with a shower... he's so dusty.

Anyway, here are a couple pics of the two in front of my 125 gal aquarium:

Welcome to the forums! Nice lookin' birds there. :) Tx here as well, I was raised and grew up on the coast and actually moved back there then left again about 2 years ago. We were living in Kemah 1 block from the water when Ike hit, needless to say we lost everything that wasn't with us when we evacuated. Anyway, we loved living down there and really miss the area.

Can't wait to hear about your birds :)

Welcome to the forum... Beautiful Birds : )

Ok the one is a sun conure and that poor ekie is soooo skinny go t the food and nutrition part of the forum because they need special diets pellets just for Ekies.
Oh but they are beautiful

Welcome from another Texan... DFW area...
Beautiful birds.... I have a female Eckie... Please read up on their diets... it is different from most parrots... He does look skinny.. he will need some maintenance pellets...
I give Abby a lot of greens, peas sugar snap peas and snow peas are her favorite I also give her bell pepper and jalapeños, corn organic brown rice, granny smith apples, carrot shreds. cooked plain pastas and very little shredded cheese as a treat..

There are several good articles on Eckies.
Here are just a couple of links...

Thanks for the warm welcome, y'all. Seems to be a large Texas contingient at this board. I'll be sure to read up on all the info y'all have on Squeakers and his dietary needs. He's eating better and trying more new food every day.

Welcome! Good luck with your new charge, I don't know anything about Eclectus, but I know they are special birds! I'm looking forward to hearing more about him.

Actually, I think Prometheus is a Jenday Conure. Like so:
