Hello, I'm new to the forum. I live in PA. I had a couple of parrots. One was a conure named Pickle and the other was a cockatoo named Angel.
Pickle we had for quite a few years. He was a green cheeked. After he was given to me, I was told he would be lucky to live a year. He came from a smokers home who was also a hoarder, and he wasn't kept very clean. I got most of his feathers to grow back and he was with us for 6 years.
Angel didn't work out so much. We only had her about a month. She hated me. I would try to clean her cage and she'd turn postal on me and attack me. Jumped on my back, bite my head. Then she took a chunk out of my dogs ear and my other dog's back. So I sent her back to PHR. (I hated to do it) So I figured I'm done with large birds. The test run was enough to scare the wits out of me. I'll stick to the smaller birds.
Also, when we got Angel, we paid $700.00 for a white bird cage she wouldn't even go into. So for the first 24 hours she was here, she hung on the side of that cage. We took a trip to Erie PA to pick up one that looked just like the one she had when she was at PHR. Now we are stuck with the cage that nobody wants to buy. hahaha.
I do have another green cheeked someone is going to give me. The baby's hatched a few weeks ago. I'm so excited to see them this weekend. She introduced me to the forum also. So keep your fingers crossed. I truly miss the sound of a beautiful bird's voice singing threw the house.
Thanks for listening to me rant and rave.
And I'm pleased to meet you all.
