Hello everyone. I am a new bird enthusiast. We started with a parakeet and now own a Quaker. We are in love with our little babes. We fully intend on expanding our brood but for now we have our 2. I research until my eyes hurt. Way later on down the road, I'd like to breed but that's a ways to go. I have my eye on a Goffins Cockatoo. They have captured my heart. I understand people do things differently and I respect and appreciate any and all advice thrown my way. I look forward to making some bird friendly friends!

Welcome to the forums! We'd love to see photos of Rico and Blue. Goffins are little charmers, have you had a chance to spend time with one?

I'm using my cell phome so I'm not sure how to upload from that yet. Lol. There's a pet shop about an hour away and I go out of my way to visit the Goffin They have there. She's already sold but she crawls all over me every chance she gets. Lol. We are getting Rico DNA sexed because the people we rescued him from; I'm not inclined to believe anything that comes from their mouth. Rico has definitely been mistreated in the past and we want to make sure he knows he's at home and will forever be with us. They said he was born may of last year.

Photobucket is an easy way to upload photos from a phone. Here's a link that may help when you want to post photos.

We do love our birdie pics but it isn't mandatory to post photos. :)

Poor Rico, I'm sorry he had a bumpy start, thank you for offering him a happier life. I think quakers are often misunderstood, they are very smart and often opinionated, they are quick to bite when something upsets them. They are a fascinating species and generally pretty happy birds when their needs are being met.

We are all curious about the pictures of Rico and Bleu!!!

Welcome to the forums, thanks for joining!

I am absolutely smitten with Goffins, and share a home with a family of five. They are wonderfully entertaining and loving birds, but please first understand what life is like with a cockatoo! High reward, potentially high maintenance, though Goffins are generally not as problematic as other toos.

It's going to be couple years before I even attempt at locating my own Goffin. as soon as I can get the photo situation lined out, I promise, plenty of pictures of our babies. I'm still in research mode and I will not take on a new breed or new bird until I'm certain I can manage my time wisely. I'm glad to be a part of this group. Very friendly folks. Can't wait to show y'all my crew. My very spoiled crew.

Welcome from a fellow North Texan! I'm from DFW (Arlington, specifically). I am a huge Quaker lover--can't wait to see your guys! :)

There's our babies! Got the picture thing sorted it looks like. Rico's photo was taken a few minutes ago. He has been clipped recently and he is like Velcro right now. No worries y'all.

Welcome! Texas (Austin) is where I first discovered fire ants!

Austin is where I discovered liquor. Lol! I'm from a little tiny town about 45 minutes away from fort worth. Thank you for the welcome. I'm so refreshed with all these lovely kind people. Love this site. :green:
