Hello. My name is Ryan I am 24 yrs old and from Kansas! I have had many different types of birds that I adopted from bad homes. I have had two scarlet macaws, an umbrella cockatoo and many cockatiels/parakeets. All of my birds have found new homes or sadly passed away they were just being fostered by me but I loved them all. Now I have decided to get a bird for myself that will be my forever companion. I was looking into getting an African grey or green wing macaw but then I got a call from a women 2 days ago saying she had a horribly mean jenday that she wanted me to take or she was just going to let her go. So I drove 2 hours to a small house at in the country to get ChiChi. And boy was she mean. The women didn't have her in a cage just locked in a bedroom. So when I entered the room chichi started to dive bomb me but my ear made it bleed as well as bite my hand several times peeling back the skin. BUT I still took her home. Once home I opened the carrier door and she jump on my hand and starting saying kisses kisses! Well I set her up with her own flight cage full of toys and perches and she loves it. She now doesn't leave my side even though its only two days later. So I have fallen in love! And that's the jist of it all.

Welcome to the forum:)

Wow! She must really love you to go from being so mean, to so loving in just a couple of days.

Lovely pic.

Lol I agree all my other birds took weeks to months to bond with me.

Quite the behavior change!!! LOL Just goes to show you that a birds behavior can change drastically in a new environment! However, do be warned, it could be a "honeymoon" phase and she might turn again! Lets hope her behaviors last, though!

I hope so! As of now she is right on my shoulder all day! I need to clip her wings cause she tries to follow me around the house lol.

Welcome. Congrats on the change in her behaviour and finding your forever companion.

Adorable jenday! Sounds like ChiChi had gotten a bit territorial over the room, and the new environment changed that. My conure was like that, and one thing I heard to do was rotate things around in the cage weekly. It's also possible ChiChi just really didn't like women! BUT! It sounds like she's in excellent hands now, so good luck with her. :)

Welcome to the forum. ChiChi is beautiful! You just had that special touch that ChiChi needed. She was waiting for you to come save her. Good luck with her future training. She definitely seems to love you & needed a new environment.
