Hi fellow parrot lovers,
I'm George and I have a sun conure named Chiquita. He is 12 years old and I am 61. We are retired long haul truck drivers. I am fortunate to be able to devote most of my time and attention to him. He goes on bicycle rides with me on my shoulder, weather permitting.

The pic is taken from Peachtree St and I-85 overpass on the handle bar of my bike. Chiquita has always been in high noise traffic situations since he was a cheep. I got him when he was 3 months old and he immediately went on the road with me in a truck. I don't recommend having your bird in traffic like I do without some long term training and trust. And of course, he has his feathers clipped just for safety.

Yea I have a long list....lol.....I have a few more that wouldn't fit in the list....That's why my partner banned me from having more...lol...It's a BIG chore daily to care for them all!!!! You must do it even if your sick, I got the flu and I still had to care for them....Got a appointment in the morning to see my doc....He's a gorgeous sun conure by the way, my partner loves them.

Welcome! :orange:

Everyone is so nice and helpful.

That is awesome. There's a guy in my neighborhood who rides his bike with is blue crown, it's so cool! First time I saw them they were riding behind me and I heard this noise and was like, "that's a parrot!" and low and behold they rode past me.

thanks for the compliment Mikey. I take good care of Chiquita. He loves water and gets a daily bath. His feathers really shine in the sun. We are out in the city regularly and he gets a lot of photo and video exposure. People give me a lot of thumbs up. I just feel honored to be a part of Chiquita's life.

Blue Crowns are so pretty. I haven't seen anyone else here in Atlanta on a bike with their bird, but we were at a halloween parade in Little Five Points and there was a man with a beautiful electrus. I'm sure there are a lot that I haven't seen. I have a windshield that I made for when the brisk but yet sunny weather. I got a plastic salad bowl and trimmed it to fit close around my neck. A velcroe strap keeps it in place. Chiquita is perched on my tee shirt and the outside lip of the salad bowl is tucked under an outer shirt or jacket. It works great. I'll put up a photo later. There are advantages of Chiquita's compact size. He can go down in my shirt when he wants. If he sees a hawk of which we have an abundance of, he jumps down in my shirt quickly. I know exactly what he has seen even before I see it. of course, when the temp is too low, we stay inside. :)
