Hello everyone i found this forum while doing research on my first pair of birds and figured i would introduce myself.
As a back story ever since i was little i always wanted a parrot, my aunt always had great stories as she had quite a few, but i was never allowed to due to their longevity. looking back i understand why they wouldnt let me as they would have been stuck with the parrot when i went to college. After losing my pet rabbit i decided it would be a good time to get a new pet and why not one that i've always wanted. i spoke with my aunt about adopting a parrot that would be good for someone with no experience and got a call 2 weeks later about a pair of green cheeks that the owner could no longer keep. 2 weeks ago i picked them up and bought them a new cage (48" wide x 24" deep x 60" tall) so they could have room to move and fly. unfortunately they are not hand tame and are interested in people and attention but are wary of you getting near them. so they have a long way to go as a pet. They do seem to have adapted very well though to my two german shepherds watching them as much as possible. as well as my youngest shep trying to get them to play ball.
while picking up the birds i visited with her rose breasted cockatoo and african grey and now i'm on the lookout for an african grey as well.
Sorry for the rambling
