Hi everyone, I’ve been lingering here since joining in November and finally gathered enough courage to say hello. My name is Morgan and I have a nearly 2 year old GCC named Leo who’ve I’ve had since November 2017. I also recently got a 6 month old blue quacker who I decided to name Bluebell.

I also have a quick question regarding Bluebell’s cage. Would the Prevue Hendryx Flight Cage F50 work for her? Or would the bars be too flimsy?

Thanks for reading!

Hello and welcome!!! I haven't looked at the cage you mentioned but I bought cheap big cages with imsy bars and they are doing great for my quaker. I can't wait to see pictures of Bluebell and Leo!!! ;) ;)

Hi Morgan,
welcome as a full talking member as well :)

Sorry- I do not know this cage, but more people will be online ;)

Here’s the angry green potato and bluebell ice cream bar! (Bluebell’s in her temporary cage at the moment... she’ll be out within a couple of days.)

Are they buddies? My GCC and Quaker are very bonded, but won't be sharing a cage as Neptune gets cranky with prolong visits, but out of the cage they are always together. I love seeing your babies. So glad you joined !

Parrots are smart and have strong personalities, and they sometimes can become happier and healthier in a bigger and nicer quality cage (in my opinion). I seen this before with parrots I had in the past, when I upgraded their cage they improved their behavior and health (more energy and more vibrant) in return. Another words some parrots know the difference between a crappy cage and a nice cage and will show it.

Unfortunately, Leo is snubbed by Bluebell at the moment, but I hope that they’ll get along better as time goes by.

I totally agree. When Leo had his smaller cage (18x18), he used to be so nippy and irritable. After changing his cage, his behavior definitely changed to a much sweeter (and in my opinion happier) bird.

Welcome to you all! Leo and Bluebell are sweet, glad you are here :)

Welcome and be welcomed. @ reasons to just watch the cheaper cages like preview :
1) The thinner bars allow the parrot to flex the bars when gnawing , chewing or flexing the bars and letting the welds break.
2) Cheaper cages may have thinner powder coating or just be painted, so look for chipped or worn spots that allow rust.

Other then that I think nothing wrong with them. I think if the above are satisfied, and my choice was a larger cheaper or a smaller heavy construction cage, I would opt for the cheaper one. Space for the parrot inside is a key need!

Beautiful flock btw.

I'm glad you finally joined up!

I can tell that the birds are running the place, and you're fitting right in here.

Welcome from cold, frosty Illinois to warm, humid Louisiana. :) Your little fids are so very cute!

I don't have any experience with Quakers, but I doubt your GCC would be able to do much damage to that cage.

My cage us very close to that but sits higher and a little bigger for Neptune and he does fine in it, even though he is a rowdy young rooster!
