hi everyone.. just joined today. :p
im a amateur/beginner to bird keeping but (i think) getting the hang of it.
Ive had my bird for 2 months now and (had) a pet java finch once during its relocation for around a week.
Anywho, ive adopted a 22yr old hawkhead that is 75% affectionate, 25% crazy. It stepped up for me on the first day! but,... its crazy :/
Its the most challenging creature ive attempted to tend husbandry to.
The bird was a plucker but its my goal to get him fully feathered however long it takes. Its been to the vet and the vet agrees the feathers can regrow tho i find its plucked chicken look rather amusing.
Hope i can learn as much as i can while im here and maybe even get some advice from some of you, especially from other hawkhead owners.
I will utilize the search option often. ;)
Again, thanks for having me here.

Hi and welcome
I'm not sure if anyone here actually owns a hawk head but I may be wrong and if not it's always awesome to add a new species to our ever growing flock ;)
hawk heads look so beautiful we don't get them in nz but sure wish we did

I'm glad to here that you have taken him to a vet and also like to thankyou for taking on a rescue
remember that he will need a few days to settle in as everything is totally new and strange so if you get a few bites it's nothing unusual just take things slower and give him hid own space ps : parrots for dummies if you haven't already it's a must have

look forward to pics

I was so tempted by a Hawkhead last year...They are lovely birds!!! 75% affectionate is good!!! I NEED pics!!!

I agree with Saron on the pics. Happy to have a new forum member. We are a good group of bird lovers from all over the world.

thank you all for the kind welcome! :)

here are some pics of the lil rascal
on the last pic, u can see the evidence of the 25% craziness LoL

as a side note: i call the bird and it generally seems indifferent...UNTIL i call my cat. LoL. then the bird comes storming for attention. >.>.. and now my cat is cautious around the bird. Go figure, but ill fix it. but ya, the bird just follows me around the house when im here. The lil thing moves pretty fast now too. Its hilarious. :D
