Tmesis

Hello! I am Tmesis (thats a nickname, not my name. Lots of people have assumed that is my name ha ha) and, as you can tell, I am new here. I own a senegal parrot named Rickie (just a name that popped into my head). Well, actually, he is not a pure senegal parrot. Years later we found out that he is actually a senegal parrot hybrid that the store 'forgot' to tell us about (and all these years, we were wondering why he didn't look like what the senegal parrot book told us he would). Whats the difference between Rickie and a regular senegal parrot? his eyes for one matter. They are a dull grey, never turned bright yellow. He is also half the size of what a senegal should be. His coloration is slightly off. I am still wondering whether he really is a hybrid, or just a mutation. I guess we will never know. I also have a dog, an english cocker spaniel named Velvet. Anyways, if you don't mind reading a long-ish story, here is how we got our munchkin (we call him munchkin ).
I used to have two dogs, but after a long scuffle, we had to give our second dog away (long story short, we adopted our uncle's dog after he did not want the dog anymore. And then he decides, a year later, that he wants to sell the dog. He takes our dog away and we never saw him again, and there was nothing we could do about it.). And at 12 years old, it killed me. Well, we were walking through the pet store a few months later, and one of the staff there was showing everyone baby parrots. Various kinds, from cockatiels, to meyers, to african greys, and of course, senegals. Well we were walking past, and I looked into the window of where the staff worker was taking parrots out of, and right in front of me was a little, featherless baby sitting in the corner of his cage. The staff worker saw me looking at the baby, and asked if I would like to see him. I thought "why not?", so he brought him out and...absolutely adorable. But the poor baby was shaking, and looked terrified, so I began talking to him. He suddenely stopped shaking, and start chirping responses. At that moment, I knew that I wanted him. My parents were hesitant, lets just say they don't like birds much. And I also knew zero about caring for a parrot, but in my 12 year old mind, I wanted that bird. i wanted him. And after some negotiating, the parents agreed with me. I right away bought, books, researched on the internet, and lets just say that 4 years later, at 16, I have a best friend in the form of a bird
I know the story was corny and cliche', but hey, the truth is corny a lot of the time
And...i really have the urge to show you guys my handsome boy, so here he is (i don't have any pictures of Rickie as a baby, because the store did not allow photography)

<the quality on this last one is crap, because my room is really dark and i wasn't planning on taking a shot. And yes, I was bored and watching Mindfreak, so don't creep out because of the tv haha.
And on a few more notes, we do not trim Rickie's feathers or claws, because of an accident that happened 3 years ago. The vet must have been on drugs or something, because she absolutely had no idea how to trim a parrot. Rickie ended up having very very short feathers, to the point of bleeding, and to this day his wing on one side is crooked, so he flies partially lopsided. And he's always in my room, we never let him out, so he is allowed to fly around. And he knows exactly where he can go, and where he cant, so i am not very worried He dulls his claws himself, so we don't worry about that much either. He speaks in complete sentences, to a point where you can literally have a conversation with him ha ha. Completely baffles my friends and family. He knows multiple tricks as well, but is usually reluctant to do them unless he recieves much praise and treats
