Hi everyone... my name is Vickie. I'm new to this forum, but not to birds! My family and I have owned birds for a good chunk of my life, and our current flock consists of Rembrandt (Remi) and Tiki- two white bellied caiques, and Lily, a Goffin's cockatoo. I love my birds to death and they are amazing animals. I'm also going to nursing school currently, studying to get my RN license... so my schedule is pretty erratic. Luckily I still live with my Mom, Dad and two brothers... so our birds are rarely alone and get plenty of attention from everyone in the house. Remi is my feisty guy, a 5-7 year old rehome that my Mom bought on consignment for me as a graduation/congratulations gift for my acceptance into nursing school. We had always wanted to have a bigg(er) bird, as we had previously only owned parakeets and cockatiels. Needless to say, we fell in love with this guy... and he still holds an active dictatorship over my entire household. A few months later, a baby WBC came into the store where Remi came from, and he now has a little brother, Tiki. He is the exact opposite of Remi, and they really balance each other out quite well. Tiki is my calm, intuitive guy that loves to think everything out. So far, they get along well and play together all the time. Our third parrot, Lily came a few months after Tiki. She is the cuddliest, sweetest girl ever and loves attention from everyone. My Mom will often sneak her into bed at night for snuggles before she goes back to her cage to sleep... she loves this. She is very intelligent and loves solving puzzles, untying knots and foraging toys. We invest a great deal of time into our birds as a family, and we all love them very much.

I'm glad to have found another place to learn from other fellow bird owners like myself! :D

I attached a couple photos of my babies. Remi is the big guy with no black on his head, Tiki is the littlest guy, and of course the big white bird would be Lily!

Thanks everyone! :) Remi was definitely the best graduation gift I could have gotten... we were lucky he turned out so nice, being both our first bigger parrot and a rehome, too. I think we discovered that parrots are like potato chips :) You can't have just one! I wish I could have gotten more picture of Lily... but she is so hard to get a photo of, because she won't stay still! Remi and Tiki literally strike a pose every time they see the camera come out.

Hi Vicky and flock, welcome to the forum, I gave up long ago thinking I owned birds, theres no doubt anymore that they definatly own me, we hope you enjoy your stay, have a look around, get to know other members and most of all have fun, glad your here with us :)

Thanks guys! Bobby- you have a blue throated macaw? They are such beautiful birds. A macaw is my dream bird... I would love to have one someday. Hopefully when I'm out of nursing school and have more time on my hands I can adopt one :) Ladyeclectic- They are little spitfires of energy 24/7. I have no idea where it all comes from! They're the clowniest little birds around. If you're looking for a second bird... definitely look into one of them. They have all the personality of a larger parrot in a smaller package!

Just did my mugshot, too guys... hope you like!

Welcome Vicky
beautiful birds you have
shame we don't get them in nz as I would totally have one
the white on the tummy looks like a mini sheep skin rug lol

Hope you enjoy your stay at the forum
