Parrots
Parakeets, two males, Popsicle and Artoo.
Hello. I'm new to this psitta-scene, but have definitely liked reading advice on other threads. But help! I have two male keets, one old, one young and new. I adopted Artoo, kept him separate until ok from the vet. They were in separate cages (close) for over a month until that fateful day when their cages were connected. Older, happy keet, Pops, got extremely dominant and aggressive, there was a huge keet fight, and I separated them, and even had to make sure they couldn't see each other for a while. I have slowly moved them closer. I can't let them out to fly (mouse pellets) but have a common cage I haven't connected yet. With cages now close, they are both doing perch tapping/ loud squalk "this is mine" moves. Artoo has lately transformed into a screech owl and has been doing attention-getting "I'm ticked and stressed" flapping and flying. Any advice? Are some keets, even dude keets, just incompatible?
- Consternated keet owner.

Birds, raised alone, rather than in a flock setting, may have a higher tendency to be aggressive towards other birds, regardless of species.

You might try feeding them millet at the same time? Food can be used to help birds "bond"... since it's a communal thing.

Thanks, Flboy and MyFlock!
MonicaMc, I'll try the millet-fest. As for the older bird, I don't know if he was raised solo or not. I'm not even sure how old he is. My preschool class found him in the snow (the kids voted to name him Popsicle) and he survived flying into a large window, not to mention two years of excited little kiddos. So he's a tough bird.
