Hi everyone!
My name is Courtney. My boyfriend and I both made accounts because we love birds! I have two Indian Ringnecks and a Blue and Gold Macaw named Indy. The ringnecks stay with my boyfriend and Indy lives with me. She is only slightly bonded to me, as I just adopted her from a woman dying of cancer a week ago. She is a biter, with no warning what so ever. She is cage aggressive but she will occasionally let me pet her head and beak. When she comes out of her cage, she wants to fly over to me, or climb to my shoulder. I would be fine with this if she didn't constantly want to bite...hard. I know she craves attention but I fear that I will lose an eye, ear, or finger! She knows A LOT of words, 30 at the least. She repeats a lot of what she hears as well. She dances and screams as well. She is molting right now so she has little white pins on her neck, and one long one on a tail feather. She has either lost, or picked at the feathers around her feet. Otherwise, she is completely healthy and beautiful! She has a huge cage with tons of toys. She loves fruits, veggies, peanuts, and her Zupreem pellets. I love her to death but she needs work!
I think that Indy lived with other birds before I adopted her. Her foster had 5 others and she seemed to enjoy their company. I would love to have another parrot, preferably an older Grey or Conure. If anyone hears of a free or cheaper bird in Indiana or Kentucky, send them my way! I am looking for rescues as well. I would love the change to foster.
Thanks for everything, and I love the forum! Such good information for caring for Indy and helping her become a less aggressive bird.
