Hey everyone! I would like to thank everybody for their contributions on the forums as I have been a ghost reader or a month or two now. Today I finally ordered my new best friend, he is a 13 month old male in Ohio and still being hand weaned. I should be getting him here in hawaii in about 3 weeks! I'm so excited I have butterflies...

Sorry I meant he's 13 weeks old:22: he's a SI eclectus..I've been trying to find one for awhile now, I almost got a 4 month old boy a couple weeks ago but the dealer sold him hours before I could get to him!

Welcome to the forum!!!

Please do post pictures once you get him home. Make sure to ask the breeder what he's weaned onto and have it available for him. Then you can add more variety to his diet. Good luck!

One more thing to remember, weight him daily when he's home with you. Baby birds have the tendency to regress when they go to a new home. Where they want to be hand fed again. Be watchful if he's losing weight or not eating. If he's making begging noises. This is something you will have to deal with to buy a newly weaned baby. Be sure you know your local pet stores and what they carry, especially baby bird formula! Do ask the breeder what formula he was on and try to keep it the same. Eclectus is one of the harder ones to hand feed. Make sure you understand the process! Good luck!

Thanks everybody! I'm so excited. I just wish I could spend 3 grand on one of the wooden luxury cages for him haha. Like I said in OP, I have been here for a month and I think I've read every single post in the eclectus section, and I feel well prepared to handle any behavour and health issues thanks to all of you so thanks again!

Wow! I remember when Bixby was that tiny! Feels so long ago, now. (He's only 6 months, so not THAT long ago. Lol) And your ekky looks even younger than 13 weeks. Cute little guy. Take lots of pics. They grow FAST!

Haha yea he's a little guy there.. I have a couple ideas but I need to meet him first some are: apollo, edger Allen crow, Picasso, Plato, Oliver, galeleo, Monet.... again they are just ideas

Very interesting names! For what it's worth, the name Oliver is already quite well represented in this forum's eclectus community.

Out of the names you mentioned, I'm rather partial to Galileo, myself. But hard to go wrong when your choices include a clever play on a poet's name, legendary abstract and impressionist painters, the father of modern astronomy, one of history's greatest philosophers and... a sun god!

You don't mess around when picking names, do you? Just swing straight for the rafters, eh? Lol! Nice!
