I have a pair of Rosy Bourkes that I am trying to find info on and others who may have a couple that I am in need of.

My pair is a Rosy Bourke female and her mate is a Rosy (blue green series).

I have all over the net looking for info on the blue green series and sadly, have found very little.

Are there any Bourkse peeps on here that may be able to help me out? Any and ALL info would be SO welcomed!

This pair had a clutch of three that I am hand feeding. The first one is the Rosy coloring, the middle one has greenish blue in it's tail along with pink, but the third one's tail pins are coming in aqua and has iridescent green on the top of the wings.

Now, i have heard some people calls these "Rainbow" Bourkes" but I had a lady tell me that this is NOT a proper name and that all Rosy Bourkes, no matter the coloring, are just that. A rosy Bourke. So I am a bit confused. Which is NOT hard for me! :p

If there are any Bourke breeders and enthusiasts out there, can you help?

Thanks millions!!!!!

Welcome to the forum! I'm not familiar with their mutation, perhaps someone would know more about their mutations....

Hello and welcome! I have 2 male Rosey Bourkes, but they are not a mutation. I am unfamiliar with that, wish I could have helped:( I would love to see pictures though and hopefully someone else will know more.

The correct name for the Rosy mutation is Opaline. Opaline can come in pink/red (Rosy), green, blue, yellow or even white series.

If you breed opaline to opaline, then all offspring will be opaline. If one or both parents have a color variation of opaline (i.e, blue, green, blue-green, etc), then those colors may also appear within the offspring. It's not a separate mutation at all, just a variation of one mutation, depending upon the colors bred for.

(great website of bourke mutations!)

Would be great if you were still around, as I would have loved to see pictures of the parents and offspring!

My mom has a Rosy Bourke. Pinky is such a quiet cute little guy. In fact, he really seems non-parrot-like. He hops, doesn't climb, rarely if ever chews or plays with toys, makes a chirp or trilling sound only when it's time to wake up or go to bed. I think he's half Canary! I know they come in a variety of beautiful mutations. Good luck finding the kind you're looking for!
