What the heck ! It's not supposed to be this miserably hot here until August!!. I mean it can get hot in June, but not like this.

This part of the North American desert that we call Southern California has been a miserable inferno the past few days. Yesterday, my thermometer said 108 degrees Fahrenheit (42.2 Celsius). Today was the same. The a/c is having a hard time keeping the house 80 inside! Nothing like taking a cold shower to cool off and get cleaned up, then only to start sweating again :(. This isn't even the hottest part of SoCal either ! Then here in August and September it gets into the triple digits too.

If I had my way, I would move farther up north to central or northern CA to get away from this heat. SoCal is known for nice weather generally speaking (it doesn't really get cold), but truth is it gets too hot for me during the summer months. I tend to prefer it cooler.

Open arms from all of us in the Great White North, full West to East coast of North America. Only precaution, we do see triple digits from time to time, but it commonly cools off fairly quickly.

Take Care!

It has been hotter than usual here too, but thankfully not that hot. No one here has A/C, so that would be brutal temps for our 3 days of summer..lol

Julie, I feel for you! Our high was 97 degrees Fahrenheit today. We're looking forward to a lot of three digit days. It's not unusual for central Texas in June and July. The humidity is pretty brutal right now. This kind of heat makes people mean.

:18: I don't know why but that cracked me up. I can definitely see 97 Fahrenheit with humidity doing that to a person haha! By the time it's 108, it is so hot it's hard to have enough energy to be mean anymore LOL!

Ugh, but Terry, Steven, and all of you in the Great White North have it miserable at the other end of the spectrum in winter. Terry, LOL @ your 3 whole days of summer.

It is AWFUL! Today was about 85F, though the winds picked up in the afternoon. I don't have AC, nor do many neighbors. Have a bunch of fans that help a bit, but there is nothing like AC!

Fortunately the birds are comfortable and most enjoy/tolerate misting.

OMG I am jealous of your SD County weather Scott ! Oh wait!! NO I just read you have no a/c, I am so NOT jealous haha! I feel sorry for you my friend!

Although you live in a part of SoCal where it is typically a bit cooler than where I am, 85 can still be brutal without air IMO as well. Especially if you're like me and prefer it on the cooler side.

Hey you all have my sympathies - this isnt something I could cope with in good spirits. Possibly we have had our three days of Summer and are in the process of growing webbed feet! I have noticed that people generally are very grumpy during a hot spell, lack of sleep and too hot for  I expect! Stay cool folks!

Hey you should all come to Ireland where its 67°F (19•5°C) today and you can have all the showers you want outdoors for free with an automatic natural breeze dryer to dry you up afterwards LoL :)
Had to edit to add a PS :)
Dont forget to bring your sweaters for it can get chilly here after the shower :) :)

Is it winter in Texas yet? Winter is under 80F in my book, lol! It's been so hot and muggy with heat advisories all ready. Husband tried to get me to go to the beach and I just stared at him. No it's too hot! And I did take extra showers this weekend to cool off.

Now I did have words over Canelo. Husband put him outside and I'd let him in after 5 minutes, then Husband put him out again so this kept happening. For anyone new he's my 5 yo English bulldog and he's made of silk, lol! I even have a separate thermostat in my car just to monitor the temp for him. Friday I had to make a run around 4 pm and when I got in the car it said 132F. Roll windows down, A/C on full blast, 20 mins later I arrive at the store and the temp says 123F. It was hot!

But Julie, I'd take NoCal anytime! I loved working and staying around Santa Maria. The weather was AWESOME!!!!

The problem is an outside temp of 85F is tolerable, but indoor conditions swelter as the day drags on due to hot air being trapped in the attic. I've looked into whole-house fans, but so many folks complain of noise issues. Apparently it resonates through the entire home? Really should bite the bullet and get central AC, as the tract was plumbed accordingly. But when I moved to this location 8 years ago, the first few summers were not so brutal. Before this I lived more inland (Escondido) where AC was a must!!

I'm happiest in shorts and a simple shirt at 60F. :)
