heat range for your bird?

Hello friends! long time no talk! Lots of good and bad things have happened, got to tame and keep the little kitten Chi! but anyways back to the question, what temperature should I keep my bird room? Some say 90-95 degrees.... I cant sleep in that heat plus it is expensive (her haven is in my room) Thanks! ~Lilo

I've been told birds are much hardier then we think, with multiple layers of feathers they can raise if they're cold. But I understand your concerns, and I'd say nothing lower than 50 Fahrenheit. 90's sounds much to high to me, nearly our body temperature at 95! What's comfortable for you should be fine for your bird.
Just try to avoid sudden large changes in temperature as birds don't handle that as well as we do.

Thanks! I thought 90 was a bit much! And hey, people let their monk parakeets go in NY and now they are almost native! It gets way below 0 there so bird seem to be very hardy!

In London people have let parrots loose and they live wild. Again parakeets! Bloody hardy little things
It's estimated there's like 3,000 - 6,000 out there.
But obviously we don't want our birds living that cold, or the room they sleep/live in!
I try to keep my living room at least 59, Max at 73 but 68 is comfortable for me.

My house is usually about 68-71. Usually whatever is comfortable for you is okay.

I have 66F at home during the cold season and never had any problems. We cannot afford to heat at higher temperatures.

If I felt more comfortable at lower temperatures I would.
I've converted all temperatures so far but I'm used to Celsius. 50 F is 10 C, 95 F is about 35 C.
I am happy around 19 C, chilling, not rushing about at the moment (being winter)

Oh I'm so sorry I should have put it in C!
I'm not comfortable at all at 66F (almost 19C), but we just cannot afford more. My birds seem to be very comfortable though - I never noticed them to feel cold. I have pretty hardy birds species too.

Heat range? Well, Hahnzel is a small bird so 350 for about 20 minutes should do the trick.

But a green cheek is even smaller, so a toaster oven would likely be enough.

My Birds are quite happy between 66 and 70 degrees in winter months. If my Amazon is cold she'll tell me out right " It's cold" if it's below 66. 90-95 is a bit warm for them, they don't like direct sunlight, but sunshine is good for the bird. Without some sunshine ( which my birds go outside form time to time in glassed in heated porch and get sunshine) birds will become color blind. Sunlight helps enhance the clarity of the color spectrum in their irises.

Thanks for all the reply's! And 95! Wow! that is so hot! It barely gets 95 degrees here in Seattle in the summer! O.O let alone in my room! Wow!
