Just have to get this off my chest, as it made me very sad to hear and watch. My eyes welled up as I heard about the poor innocent animal.

The news said somewhere in Los Angeles a pit bull was savagely attacked by a human. The reason was BREED PREJUDICE!! The dog was not disturbing anyone, but must have been at the wrong place at the wrong time. Allegedly, the man beat the dog with a shovel, then slashed several times with a knife, looked like deep long cuts. He needed 1,000 stitches and is doing well now in the care of veterinary professionals.

This is exactly the same thing as a beating because of ignorant RACIAL prejudice, only with an animal!!
No arrests have been made, and not sure if they even have a suspect. :(
Thank you for letting me vent.

Ignorance is apparently alive and well. Hope the poor dog makes a full recovery! I personally am all for bringing back the old "eye for an eye" style punishments personally. I wonder how the man would feel getting beat with a shovel for being a prejudicial idiot.

That is disgusting, and heartbreaking. I hope they find the guy and there is at least some sort of justice:( I hope that poor dog heals soon.

It makes me sick and so angry to hear stories like that. I'm glad the dog is now getting professional care. 1000 stitches, cruelty and prejudice know no bounds in some cases. I hope the human gets what he deserves.

:( Oh my gosh! Reading your post just brought tears to my eyes.

This hit very close to home....my Ziva is half pit and half AmBull, looking exactly like a pit. The 'stuff' I had to hear from (most) of my neighbors when we brought her home was quite disturbing, and made me realize just how stupid and uneducated many people (still) are. :(

I sure hope they catch this person and make an example out of him in court!

AWW!!! What cuties!!! I want to grab and kiss their adorable faces :). Thank you, makes me feel a little better to see similar breeds in a loving situation.

I LOVE that giant football pillow!

Thank you, Wendy! Their sweet faces make me smile too. I wish they all had loving homes and caring owners.

My experiences with pit bulls are few, but they've all been positive. The last pit I met was big, at least as tall as a standard poodle, but was the most relaxed dog I have ever seen. His name was Shadow and when his owner demonstrated how he heels, he moved at the slowest pace. The pit I met before him was a very well-behaved puppy whose owners were acclimating it to strangers and foot traffic.

In the opposite direction, the non-pits in my family, discounting the 2 dogs I have owned and the dogs my older sister has owned, have never behaved. They jump on tables and eat the human food, they destroy wallpaper, they pee all over the house and leave yellow puddles, etc. My sister and I believe in taking dogs to etiquette school, which I'm doing right now with my rescue mutt. If you don't train your dogs, your dogs will run wild!

Our neighbor has one by the name of Dee Dee. She is the most layed back, well behaved dog. She's very stocky and has great conformation. But the best thing is she is so well behaved and loves their 5 year old.

Whoever perpetrated such a vile crime is a despicable excuse for a human.
Ignorance and unbridled hostility knows no boundary. There are enough compassionate citizens and law enforcement folks to hopefully snare that vile two-legged sub-animal and prosecute/sentence to the maximum.

I am a 63 year old white American male born and raised in United States and I hate to say it I have never seen so much hatred prejudice and stupidity amongst a group of people that that claim to be the admiration of the world.

Any people we know that you hate this way we as Americans should shun away from. If we befriend people who are prejudiced and hate and overlook these things about them then we are personally just as responsible for their actions as they are!

Someone needs to start a movement that isolates people who are haters are prejudiced and who beat animals and other people and are just plain ugly to humanity as a whole. Perhaps these people will get the message

Okay I'm off my soapbox sorry for the rant

I have several dogs, including 3 pit bulls and a retriever. I leave my retriever loose in my house when I am gone because he will seriously ruin the day of anyone who tries to break in. My pitties are all mushes, even though 2 of them are dogs that were formerly forced to fight.

Yoshi, I LOVE your unprejudiced views! :)

Sonja, what cuties the pits are! Deuce looks like he's part guard breed, I wouldn't be messing with him! ;)
