Head bobbing

Hi I was wondering if anyone know what head bobbing on conure means? When I adopted her she does it all the time I was wondering if its for attention? The last owners said they taught the bird to do that but I'm not sure. If I give the other GCC attention she starts bobbing her head wondering if anyone has a bird that does the same thing?

It could be jealousy, affection, anything really.

Head bobbing means multiple things with my GCC. He has different types of bobs for different reasons.
The 'territorial display/dance' bob is coupled with a hissing noise and is used when he wants people to go away, and when he dances.
The 'I'm excited and I want to see what you're doing' bob is straight up and down, very fast, when he's happy and I have something he wants. He's only done it once or twice.
Last but not least, the 'I love you sooo much' bob, where he is contented, relaxed and wishes to display his affection toward me. Head is down low when he does this, and it's often coupled with gentle beak tapping.

Different birds have different ways of saying things, people just need to pay attention and listen to what they're saying.

You don't really teach a bird to do a natural behaviour - bobbing is, as Roanoke said, a very natural instinct for birds and can have a variety of meanings. It's likely for attention by the sounds of it, but I'd try to discourage too much bobbing. It's normally done when the bird wants to regurgitate food for a loved one to show affection.

Avery doesn't really "bob" unless she's trying to show me love. When angry, she sways her head around, stands tall, and the feathers on the back of her neck go up while the feathers on her head lay flat. When she's content, she just fluffs up and rubs her cheeks against my face or hands, whichever she's cuddling.

So over time you'll learn what the behaviours mean as the days go on. I've had Avery for nearly two years and I'm still learning... hormones tend to throw everything through a giant, flaming hoop with a shark pool waiting for you at the end

I was tapping on the keyboard yesterday and Braxy did the craziest head bobbing, I'll try and put it on youtube w/ link today. He seemed really happy.
