I currently own a 17 year old African Grey and a 7 year old Greenwing, I just got off the phone with a woman who is trying to re-home her 10 to 12 year old Harlequin female. Her first owner passed away and the husband neglected her for a while until her current owner adopted her. She now works too many hours and feels the bird isn't getting enough attention. She will only step up when away from her cage and freaks out if you approach her with a hand held perch. She is OK with both her and her husband but sounds like she's a little weary around strangers. Any thoughts on adopting her would be appreciated. There is a re-homing fee of $300.00, That sounds OK, what do you think. I'm going to see her this coming Sunday. Oh, btw, I only work 3 days a week.

You are so lucky! I would adopt someones harlequin in an heartbeat:) sounds like u have more then enough time for her and I'm sure she's just nervous and stuff cause of all the moving. Don't get her unless you know your gonna be her last home:) good luck with your decision!

I would think that, as with any bird, time and patience will play a big part in getting to know one another~ if the bird is close, maybe a few visits would be best!

Yes see if she likes you! You never know she could chose you right away. Good luck and post some pics when you go to visit!

Because of the distance I will have travel and the people's work schedule Sunday is pretty much a one time shot. Unless she really really freaks out I'm planning on bringing her home tomorrow night . Wish me luck. I'll try to post pictures ASAP.

Good luck Willist! We brought Remington home after our first meeting too! It was a four+ hour trip one way~
