Hello

I have two umbrella cockatoos. A male and a female. They are both going into the nesting box allot.

I want them to lay eggs.

If I put a hard boiled egg in the nesting box is that a good idea?

Will it make the birds start laying eggs.

Dude (dudette?) it seems to me that you are taking on a very demanding and sophisticated task here, while asking for very basic advice. No criticism. Just curious. Are you looking to bring pets into your world, or just make some money? I ask that respectfully, as I imagine it will influence responses here. People here love and treasure birds. Some more info, maybe?

No, they will not make them lay eggs. Please don't breed cockatoos. Most cockatoos are vastly over produced and poorly suited to life with humans.

If you put hard boiled EASTER eggs in with them, you can breed different color cockatoos!
Seen the ones with yellow feathers on top of their heads? Yup, yellow Easter eggs. Works like a charm.

All excellent replies!
When I first saw this question, I knew I couldn't give a polite reply!

Must say, never thought of this method for color mutations!
Time to write an article for Wikipedia and steal credit for it!

ROTFLMAO. lol

My answer is No but add 2 slices of bread and you have a sandwich.
