are booda perches meant to be hard? i ordered one a while ago but haven't
installed it yet. the stuff i heard about them made me think that they are
kinda soft but still a bit hard for birds to properly perch on them.. but i'm
not sure if they were meant to be this hard? feels like a wooden perch, but
still flexible.

is it just me?

I have a booda perch in Yoshi's cage, and he absolutely loves it. When I clean his cage I always change the shape of the perch before putting it back in, and he loves to check out all the new spaces it creates in his cage.

They're designed to be flexible enough to bend but still remain sturdy. Is the diameter of the rope too large for your bird perhaps?

nah the diameter's fine for an african grey. i was just worried it might be too harsh on
his feet but i will be putting it back in tomorrow and see how it goes, if it's normal for
it to be this sturdy. :)

yep, it's normal. it's not squishy or soft, but the texture is smooth and soft on the feet : )

Don't worry, your bird will soften it up in no time, with his beak! My bird likes to work at the fibers until it looks like a shag carpet! Also, I believe it is normal for it to be sturdy, gives your bird a secure feeling. Compared to other perches, you've got to admit, it's nicer on the feet.

ok so i washed it and it seems a bit less sturdythan before but still in good shape anyway.
klaus isn't afraid of most new things so when he saw it in my hand he leaned forward
waiting for me to offer it as a chew toy. i placed it closer to him and he started chewing
on it a bit. when i saw that he was ok with it, i installed it into his cage and placed him
inside. he'd usually jump instantly screaming at anything he's afraid of but this time he
sloooowly and calmly just moved away from the booda and kept staring at it from the
opposite end of the cage.

i figured since he's not used to it, i would try something out. i hooked a cup right above
the perch and placed a lot of his favorite treats in there, then put him back in the cage.
he noticed that cup instantly and then i sat there for about 30 mins watching him brave
his way AROUND and above the perch to get to it haha! it was so cute. he managed to
stand on the booda perch twice by himself but climbed away after a few seconds, failing
to brave it and get his treats.

since he doesn't really seem to be afraid of it, i'm leaving it in for a few more hours
and see how it goes. hopefully he'd have gotten used to it by then and chowed down all
his favorite treats. ;3

alright so 3 days have passed since i placed the booda perch in his cage. at first he was
avoiding it at all costs, but not really freaked out by it. now he keeps on perching on it
by himself and i guess chewing on it.

success. ;3
