Happy Hut

River sleeps in his happy hut every night. And during the day he likes to stand on top of it sometimes.

I use one as well. Conures are known to want to burrow. Pepper sleeps in his everynight.

What is a happy hut!?

I think I might enjoy a human sized one

that is the best idea i have ever heard :d !!!

Kayak has one and she LOOOOOVES it. She sleeps it in every night and climbs in it when she's ready to go to sleep. She climbs in it and makes this cute little noises and starts saying goodnight to me.

My 13 week old Sun Conure Noah doesn't seem to like the one I put in his cage, he opts to stand on his perch and tuck his beak in his back down feathers. Looks adorable but I am wondering if he will eventually warm up to the Happy Hut... Only had him for 4 days, is it possible he doesn't feel safe enough to use it? Or is it possible he's just going to be a perch bird?

Happy hut is the way to go. My baby love the happy hut.

My previous conure was worried about the happy hut then discovered it was the best thing in the world.

Both my birdies each have one! Sometimes Nicky will hold on to the top cage bars and fall asleep laying on his back on top of his hut lol.

I hate to be the guy to say this but I have heard from some local bird supply stores that some birds have actually gotten trapped and died in those kind of sleepers (no info on this specific kind of brand or configuration). My Jenday loved his pop-up tent to sleep in.

I made my own and sewed a thin piece of wood into the sides and bottom. It looks like a little pup tent. I just brush it off if it looks dusty or make a new one.

Is anywhere aware that a Happy Hut may encourage nesting behavior/egg laying?
I was informed of this by a local bird store owner/breeder. I've since googled the topic, and found several threads in which this is also mentioned.

You just need to check it every so often for any loose threads. I have 2 of them for Maxx, one in his inside cage and one in his outside cage. I found one thread shortly after placing in his cage, and I think it was one I missed when I first got it. Have not found any since in either hut.

I also HAD happy huts for my conures but they chewed at them especially as they matured so out they went. To be honest they didn't miss them either.

I threw the last one out only the other day when i found a matured sun conure hen hanging by the neck, lucky she was only tangled loosly & i was able to free her. I don't know how long she was hanging there for but it did take her some time to recover. I am now of the opinion to have a little nest box in their cage or forget it all together.

Same goes for cage covers. Keep a close eye on them. Young conures don't chew but as they mature the chewing stimulates the hormones & they get busy with the nest (happy hut) to have it ready for breeding.

I do know how cute it is to see a conure tucked up in their hut.
