HAPPY BIRTHDAY, TRISH!!! (AKA SNIPER T!)
To a wonderful friend and one of my favorite (and most talented) storytellers! Wishing you a day every bit as beautiful as you deserve!
I know that your birthday is almost over, being that you Aussies live in the future and such, but for me it's only just begun! Let the celebrations continue!

A Very Happy Birthday, Betrisher!

Enjoy your special day Trish, as you have earned every moment of its joy.

Plus, you only get one each year and that alone is reason (if really needed) too enjoy this day!
Love your stories and insights! You bring the bright morning's Sun to the day before those of us who sleep in even see it coming. :D

Again, A Very Happy Birthday my Good Friend!

Happy Birthday Trish!
I hope you have a fantastic day!

Thank you for the birthday wishes everyone! Special thanks to my good mate, Stephen, for the parliament of owls! I've had a lovely day today and found out just as my birthday ended that I share it with a lady called Claudia Severa, whose invitation to a party in celebration of her natal day was found on a wooden tablet in the foundations of a Roman building. She was writing to ask her dear sister, Sulpicia Lepidina, to come for tea and celebrate with her. Poor Claudia Severa was a few thousand years older than me, so I guess I'm doin' pretty well, considering.

Stephen, this is my final year of Latin studies. I can't believe it's over! The time has just whizzed by. Now, I have to decide what, if anything, I'll do next. Choices are: Ancient Greek, Ancient History, Calculus, Trigonometry or a complete change of scenery with a few units of English. Greek is looking like it might win at the moment, but I'd be glad of any opinions you might have. I've got a whole trimester to decide in, as there's nothing being taught in the final trimester that interests me. Decisions, decisions!

We read Cicero this year (his defence of Marcus Caelius Rufus against charges of sedition against the state). Who knew ancient authors could be so racy, so rude and so darned funny!? I assumed when I began that Latin would be very serious and dry. Well, the grammar was, but reading the authors has been an absolute joy. Caesar's writings were like 'Boys' Own Adventures', telling of his derring-do against the hairy Gauls. Sallust's account of the Catiline Conspiracy was *far* more exciting and bloodthirsty than anything you'd see on TV and Catullus' poetry was either sublimely heart-rending or gut-wrenchingly funny. Then, we did the mythologies of Ovid and Virgil and they were exciting and complicated. Seneca's 'Phaedra' was a bit more pedestrian, but gave us a lot to think about. Martial's 'Epigrams' were mostly R-rated and hilariously funny. Finally, we read good old Cicero, the great orator. His Latin is *so* hard to read fluently, but *so* cleverly and cunningly put together: he's a consummate lawyer, is Cicero, and it's no wonder that Marcus Caelius Rufus was acquitted in the end!

I hope you're still writing? I've been so busy with studies, I haven't written anything except essays. Hope to fix that soon. Love to you and everyone here at parrotforums.com! XXXX

I'm glad You had such a good birthday. You deserve no less. And Claudia Severa ain't got nothing on you, love! Well, save for years. She's got lots of years on you.

Last year of Latin?!? Already??? Most impressive, my friend! Looks like you've far surpassed my meager capacity in Latin. Lol! I do remember reading Cicero in my final year of Latin... or at least trying to. Hahahaha!

Nowadays I'm working on getting better with my Spanish. I'm hoping it sticks better than my Latin lessons did.

And yes, I'm still writing. Working on a new book right now, actually. Still waiting for you to get started on a book yourself. You know you've got the chops, lady!

Anyhow, Happy Birthday Day 2, my friend.

Belated Happy Birthday Trish. Hope you had your new aviary deck to enjoy it on then and for the rest of the Spring.
