Three years ago today, I walked into a pet store to look at a desert tortoise for my husband. I met Harry, the following day she came home with me. Later, she invited five feathered friends to join her.

She changed my life, for the better? That's complicated, haha, I was a pretty serious artist, now I make parrot toys. I once had decent taste in music, now I sing off key with a U2 while she plays goofy kid songs on her piano and guitar, I listen while one quaker whistles and dances with cartoons while the other beats a bucket with a stick.

I wouldn't have it any other way, Harry. You are an amazing and unanticipated friend. Thank you for choosing me.

A very happy 3rd Gotcha Day to Harry and Allee (and may all the flock join in the celebration too). Seems like only yesterday that I read your first post about Harry taking control of your life. :)

Happy 3rd gotcha day Harry! You sure changed things for your mom forever... but she wouldn't have it any other way! :)

Happy Anniversary Allee and Harry! Didn't realize Harry was your gateway to MBS!! Life may be different with fids, but most assuredly more interesting!!

Did your husband get a desert tortoise?

Thanks for all the kind words, Everyone! Haha, most of the time, living with Harry and her friends is a joy ride.

Scott, we never adopted the desert tortoise. We did a lot of research and decided we couldn't give him or her the quality life we wanted to.

Harry wasn't exactly our gateway bird. I had a cockatiel when I was a teen and we had another when our boys were kids. I worked for a vet who treated avians for a couple of years. We also took care of a very sick male Eckie for eight months. When I met Harry, I had no intention of adopting a bird or birds. Lol, Harry's a bossy girl!

The perfect example of life taking unexpected but joyous excursions!

Hooray for Harry! I remember when you first became her loyal minion and then when you discovered she was a girl, but it was too late and Harry had to be her name.
