I have a baby, male Hahns Macaw named Kero. I have other birds and have tried the harness with them and it was a disaster.(following the directions etc) Tried with Kero yesterday and it went awesome! I put it on him today and besides chewing it a bit he was great and I managed to get it all the way on him and took him out to the backyard for a couple minutes. I didn't leave it on him long. I'm just very excited that it looks like he will let me use the harness with him.

A happy bird owner :D

Awesome! Wylie refuses a harness just seeing one gets her all angry.

Hi. I have a 13 week old Hahns Macaw. Female. I bought her rhe Aviator Harness and she is wonderful with it. When shevfirst wore it she bit at it some, but now knws when it is on we are going out. Not sure what kind of harness you have, but if it is not the Aviator harness I would switch it. The feather teather was not reccomended. I was told the safest is the Aviator, plus it has a give to it, so it does not jerk them back should they fly. It is actually designed to allow themto fly if their wings are not clipped. Good luck. Elaine and Hahnna. Ps how old is your baby and is he talking?

Wylie has 15 years where we no nothing of how she was treated. She is now 17, and has finally stopped flinching. She still bites when startled:( In the time my husband(he had her a year before I met either of them so he bonded with her. It took her a few weeks for her to step up for me and a few months to stop biting me. I don't force anything she does not want to do. The harness agitated her so much we did not try it again.
I have only seen her fly off her cage when thunder scares her.

Here's a pic wearing the harness, day 3. I'm amazed he took to it so well.

Buzz, yes it's the Aviator. He's only a few months old. He says Hi and out and mumbles a lot!

Adorable! I was disapointed that I could not get the pink Harness for Hahnna. Is your Kero still handfeeding or is he weaned? Hahnna is 13 weeks and still on two feedings a day. She is weighing in at 130 grams now. Kero is adorable.

When he starts to chew on the harness, if you tell him to leave it, after awhile he may start telling himself and dropping it. LOL. Every time Hahnna, would pick the leash up and bite it, I would tell her leave it and now she picks it up, drops it and says leave it. :)

Hahnzel sometimes bites my finger then exclaims, "Ouch!"

Yes the leave it command is used often with my dog so it should be easy to train me to say it! LOL

He is weaned. He's still fairly beaky but I'm telling him no bite and removing my finger, hand, ear, whatever from his mouth then putting him down. I hope he learns that one soon.

LOL. we do Yorkie rescue, and have eight with us and they all bark at once so either my hubby is yelling shut up. Now when they bark Hahnna screams, shut up, shut up, shut up. I said shut up. Took her for a walk yesterday and everyone she saw she screamed shut up to. Ugh! That is her new phrase of the week.
