I finally finished Jackie's cage cover...I used a shower curtain cut in half and sewed together so I'd have enough length to go around his cage, and it uses small magnets to attach to the cage.

That is awesome!!!

Stupid question: How did you attach the magnets to the shower curtain?

Another stupid question: Can I use the sewing machine to do something like this?

I attached them using a hot glue gun, but where they cling to the cage Jackie can't get to them so I don't have to worry about him picking at them. I tried sewing them into the seam, but because the magnets are so small they weren't strong enough even through just 1 layer of fabric. Plus it's easy to take on and off of the cage:)

Yes! I used my sewing machine without any issues. Its a pain for me to get to the fabric store, so I grabbed a shower curtain from target lol I cut it vertically and sewed the ends together, and then sew the raw edges so they don't fray.

Here's a pic of how small the magnets are, I ended up using about 25 of them

The cage cover the previous owner was using was naaaasssstyyy, and I've been using towels and a blanket to cover his cage. I'm pretty handy making things so I just couldn't help it haha :)

Thanks SO much for the picture tutorial. I will def try doing something like this. GREAT idea!!! :D

Very nice! Silly question, but would the shower curtain material be machine washable?

I'm definitely in the through-blanket-over-cage camp myself. We're a simple people...

Thanks! :) This shower curtain is a satin type material, so yes- machine washable on delicate and probably hang to dry...no hand washing here! I don't have time for that lol
