Hi All,
I have been making bird toys for a while now(for my friends birds) and I have been thinking about maybe selling them at the local pet shop. I have no idea what sort of price to put on them or even if there would be a market to sell them. So I am looking for your help. Each toy is made with 100% Cotton material, and dyed with Kool-Aid. If you could please tell me if you where to see these toys in a pet shop if you would buy them and what you would be willing to spend on them. Please keep in mind that the wooden toys have been in with the fids for about a month and a half. And the ring for about three months. So the wooden ones are missing parts.
Thank You for all and any help you are willing to give. Also if anyone is interested in how these are made I am willing to share.
Thank You for any and all help.

Nice, I'm working on making bird toys to sell as well! The dye thing is a pain in the butt, Hard to find anything that doesn't just dissolve when it gets dunked in the water dish, as they will undoubtedly be.
Good luck with your toys! I'll check them out a bit later, I'm in the woods with dialup and my connection is so slow atm pictures are taking forever.

Hi ESS!

I can't see your links. You're toys sound great though.

Those toys look great. I really like the swing. As far as pricing goes, I'm afraid I can't be of much help. But I definitely would buy those if I had a Macaw. Afraid they're a bit too big for my Amazons

OK well my family owns a pet store and here's the prices that we'd put on those toys (in order that the links go):
$20-$30+
$20-$25+
$15-$20+
$10-$15+
$10-$15+
The price also depends upon the size which we (my parents who do all the pricing and me) couldn't quite tell, so the price is based on the toy being the size made for a small cockatoo or large conure. That swing is big enough for a macaw, but we still considered it as a "small bird" sort of toy. The size you have it in would be sold for between $50 and $60 (we have one like that, only not as pretty or well made and that's the price of it and they do sell very well, so the pricing must be right)
I suggest that you make those toys in maybe 3 different sizes: one for conures and smaller "medium" parrots, one for small cockatoos and smaller "large" parrots, and one for macaws and other large parrots. This will REALLY help sales and people with multiple birds will buy multiple toys in different sizes.
I LOVE THE TOYS!! I think I need a trial set just to get pricing right ;)
Anyways, if you need more help pricing things, I'm glad to help

Oh yeah, I'd love to know how to make them all! Especially that swing! If I love them enough, I'll talk the parents into selling them at the pet shop and getting commission for you!

I loved them, they are great indeed!Good job!As for the pricing I think Kai is more reliable...:D

I finally was able to look and I love the craftmanship. They are definitely made for the busy 'beak and destroy' missions. Kai is right on with the pricing.

The rope braids and swings are great!!!

I would love to learn how to make them as I like my to have sisal....

Wow, they look great! I would definately buy them!
Looks very professional.
Maybe you should look into making a site for selling them.
There is Freewebs.com, and something called 1 & 1 web hosting - cant remember the exact link, google 1 & 1 webhosting.
