So I bought a handheld steam cleaner the other day hoping it would make cage cleaning easier and to use around the house, however the steam isnt hot and therefore i dont feel it is sanitizing, does anyone here use one, if so what brand do you have?

I have a shark steamer and it works awesome.. It will make the cage look almost new. However it is a time consuming process so I only use it about once a month. I use white vinegar for my day to day cleaning. What brand did you buy?

I am bumping this thread rather than starting a new one.

What models / brands of handheld steam cleaners do you all use? I am looking for something that I can read under the cages to mop without having to move the cages. Actually, plain soap & hot water do an excellent job of cleaning & sanitizing, but bird poop, being what it is, tends to stick better than some other substances and a jet or two of steam helps encourage it to go elsewhere.....

As Chris said, Sharks are pretty good units, though some of the others on the market are not much more than glorified toys.....

Before purchasing, you need something that is rated at 1000 watts or greater (something less cannot generate enough heat to boil water) and has a water storage capacity of at least 16 ounces or more...less than that will have you running for water refills all afternoon...then you have to wait for for steam generation over 212 degrees F.....

Like Mike said, Wagner makes pretty good products.....

If you've bought something you don't think is doing what it supposed to do, take it back & trade up.....

I have a Wagner, although it's a different model. Works well!

I own a shark at it works well for me!

I love my shark mop it works great that's why I got the hand held one I but I don't like the hand held one

I have a shark steam cleaner and personally hate it, it is to slow for me... I can hand scrub way faster and clean up better, when it is warm out I use a pressure washer that is 4500psi and works amazing, it will take off anything. I use the steam cleaner as a last resource or if something needs actually 100% sanitized.

JT wouldnt a pressure washer strip the powder coating from a cage? Ive been wondering about this for some time.

as long as your cages arnt already busting powdercoating off big time then it shouldnt. I dont put the nozzle right agaisnt the metal as i am sure it probably could you spray from a distance and it takes everything off.
