Hand feeding baby peachface

I had to remove a baby today for it's safety, I went to the Pet Shop and bought hand raising powder and spoon, he as all bar swallowed the spoon, but not sure how often to feed, I was told to keep eye on crop,(pouch on neck) that it should always feel full,
I have put a photo of Lucky in photo's.
Can you please tell me if the above is right.
I thank you for any help, he is a fighter and I will do all I can to make sure he is around for a very long time

[FONT=&quot]Have you tried using a syringe instead of a spoon? in that way you will now exactly what amount your bird is been fed.
The formula must be the right thickness/consistency.
If it is too thick, it may not move correctly through the crop[/FONT][FONT=&quot].[/FONT]
[FONT=&quot]The temperature of the formula should match the bird’s body temperature otherwise the bird will not be able to digest it. If given too hot, it may cause the crop to burn. Baby birds do not digest their food quickly and if given too cold, it could cause the formula to go sour in the crop.
[/FONT][FONT=&quot]Feed your bird x2 5 ml of formula, three times a day. Monitored him carefully, watching the crop. When the crop empties he is ready for another feed.[/FONT][FONT=&quot]

Thank you Antoinette, I will get syringe tomorrow, he has feed well from spoon, just worried am giving either too much or not enough, have named him Lucky, as my Granddaughter say's he is Lucky we went in the Avery when we did.

Lucky is such an appropriate name for him I agree.
Purchase a few small ones (5 -10ml) they are cheap and always better to have a few spares on hand.

If you are not familiar with hand feeding you need to research, research, before you start or you can do more harm than good. (not intentionally of course)
there are so many factors to take into account, temperature of the formula, consistancy, how often to feed, the angle of the syringe when feeding, etc....keeping the little one warm is very important as well.
you can make a temporary brooder, with a heating pad, but you need a thermometer to keep track of the temperature, according to it's age.
