I would cry too, you grew up with him so he was very special!!! He's in birdie heaven now watching over you!!!! :)

Wow. The bond I share with Sammy I couldn imagine it happening to me. It be no diff then losing my dad all over again. I'm so sorry for your loss.
Maybe get a diffrent breed. Maybe a grey or a larger conure.
A fresh start. You know. Poor peanut will never be replaced. End of story.
But why not help another soul. It could be peanuts in another suit
You never know. Our dog passed away after 17 years of life. Our dog Sara now was born the day after Rages death. And acts the exact same way.

So who knows.

So sorry about what happened to poor Peanut. I can understand how you feel about not wanting another Yellow-nape. I enjoyed 40 years with a Yellow-crowned Amazon, and don't think I could ever have another Yellow-crown. I love Amazons though, and hope someday to have another, but it will likely be another type of Amazon. And there are so many other wonderful kinds of parrots-- if you should decide to share your life with a parrot again, there are lots of potentially good choices out there.

I like what ConnureKidd has to say. My 8 y.o. daughter watched her beloved Kila get mauled by the neighbor's dog. Kila was a wonderful Jenday who picked my kid as her pal. The whole experience was heart wrenching. Now we have Benny. Benny is a Jenday who is a little over a year old and had no human interaction before we took him home. We've had him for three weeks. He is only now learning to take treats from our hands. He is certainly no Kila, but we still love him. We rescued him.

Although what happened is awful, I think maybe its time to at least forgive. Hate and anger only breed hate and anger. My brother let my dog kill my hampster when we were kids, he watched her do it, and then put her back in the cage hoping no one would find out. I was 8 years old and I loved that little hampster, but there comes a time where you have to move on from the anger.

Maybe you should look into getting a different breed of amazon. I love my blue front. :)
