Remington~ GW Macaw
Ollie/Olivia~ CAG
So my hubby has a produce company, and we have been experimenting with different fruits and vegetables for Remington~ so far we have tried
fruit- grapes, apples, raisins, oranges, pears, peaches, cantaloupe, strawberries, pumpkin, tomatoes and cucumbers
veggies- sweet potatoes, green beans, carrots, peas, lima beans, butternut squash, corn. brocolli

Didnt like- pears, peaches, cantaloupe, strawberries, carrots, peas.brocolli

Should i try just giving 1 type of food at a time cuz he seems to throw out what he doesnt want and only eats what he likes...what other veggies should i try? I want to be able to feed more veggies than fruits, he does like pasta, eggs, oatmeal, nuts and especially pizza crust!

Oh and do you always cook your veggies? especially brocolli/carrots and stuff like that ?

Otherwise he gets ZUpreem pellets(natural not fruity kind)

I have discovered in the past 2 years that if I want rosie to eat either orange or green vegies/fruits I give her a small bowl with just that item inside. She eats it better that way. Also discovered that some vegies she likes cooked and not raw. If you give them a bowl with many choices then it seems to be overload.

I better try your way SB. I fill Eddies bowl like I fill my sandwiches...raid the fridge and throw it in lol...as long as its healthy, all is well. Some days he only eats 1-2 items. Your way sounds like a good method to get him to eat some of those 'less favoured' foods ;).

Some things you'll have to cook, such as brown rice and most all beans, sweet potatoe's should also cooked as there are things in them that actually restrict the absortion of nutrients when served raw, anything made with white flower such as the pizza dough isnt all that good for them, whole wheat would be better, things that can be served raw, dark green LEAFY veggies are a great source of vitimans and minerals, kale, spinach, collard greens, turnip greens, mustard greens, swiss chard, chicory, beet greens, and also sprouts, stay away from avacados, mushrooms, and onions, as well as the leafs of tomato plants, sure there are many more that other members will weigh in on :)

Rosie will not eat carrots raw but will eat them cooked. My vet said parrots will feel the texture of foods and discard the texture they do not like.
