Parrots
Umbrella Cockatoo- 15? years old..I think?

HOW TO MAKE A GIANT MESS ON PURPOSE!
**listen closely**

So, some disclaimers/explanations:
1.The "play perch" that she prefers the most (as shown below) is crap but she loves it and prefers it over the rest- don't get one like this...ugh- I still have it because she is attached to it and likes to eat breakfast there. I would never recommend one like it for any parrot (esp her size).

2. I used to think this behavior was attention-seeking, but I think it's more for fun, because she only stops when she sees I am recording her (I can talk to her and she will keep it up lol)

3. She is literally taking handfuls of food, touching one with her beak and dropping the rest on the floor---a favorite past-time LOL!

4. She has never been punished for this behavior, so DK why she is "guilty" acting--she knows I don't care for it, but it's so goofy to see her reaction when recorded (and she doesn't behave like that if the camera is on and she is innocent hahah!)

5. I was on the computer the whole time she was doing this and recorded with the built-inc computer camera, so it's not like I pulled out a new device that scared her into stopping. Cracks me up...Now I need to sweep...ugh!!!

All cockatoos are paid shills by food manufacturers! The ratio of food consumed to wasted is around 1:4. Their mischievous ways thrill watching human servants cleaning the floor!

There's definitely a conspiracy at work here (and now it all makes sense...)haha ;)

Noodles:
"DEAR ZUPREEM, YOU NEED ME AND YOUR FOOD ISN'T EVEN THAT GREAT, BUT I KEEP YOUR COMPANY ALIVE. MY HUMAN WILL CUT YOU OFF COLD UNLESS I DEMAND OTHERWISE!!! REMEMBER WHEN SHE TRIED TO SWITCH ME TO HARRISON'S BUT I REFUSED?! I HOLD THE POWER- NEVER FORGET THAT!"

That explains why she won't eat other foods (but doesn't even like theirs lol)...dang company loyalty....she's in too deep HA

Always amuses me when new folks ask how to go about minimising food wastage by birds. Well you can try but you're wasting your time, just get used to doing a lot more cleaning!

I think you're right, Noodles is definitely getting some payola from Zupreem :D

Well she certainly looks very sheepish when caught playing with her food. Reminds me of my grandson playing with his breakfast. Not really all that hungry but doesn't want to leave the table. Getting bored so what better thing to play with but breakfast? As soon as you say stop playing with it and eat it you get the exact same look.

So ridiculous lol! You would think I had beaten her or something, the way she immediately is like.."oh no...I've been caught" (as though it wasn't COMPLETELY obvious when she was dropping tons on the floor for 5 minutes LOL)

Maybe she feels it's not something a grown respectable parrot should do with her breakfast even if it is a lot of fun and feels somewhat embarrassed when she is caught out behaving like a much younger parrot?
