After 6 years of being called a boy, and a few months of me questioning his gender, its official...
Pascal is a GIRL!!!
(S)he laid an egg last night! No wonder s/he was putting on weight.. recently went from 192 to 202 grams, and I thought s/he was just packing weight for winter time
Pascal is just as sweet as always.. which surprised me that s/hes never been aggressive to us over his/her cage, especially since an egg was about to be there! there was no brooding of the egg, and there seemed to be no interest in it, so it was disposed of without fuss. I'm probably still going to say him/his/he because its what I'm used to... but now we don't need a DNA test!
And of course this thread just wouldn't be complete without a recent picture of our GIRL enjoying a brown paper bag on their boing.
(And yes, I will be making sure to limit the nesting areas more carefully now that we know- just to limit the chance of impulse laying or any other things that go along with the nestyness. )
