Betcha' thought I got a parrot! Hehehehe, not yet!
BUT:
I received an e-mail (from an ad I posted) from a man. He informed me that he had several types of birds and asked if I was available to come check them out. I said I was, so he asked me to give him a call and we would set up a meeting time. I was a bit hesitant, because I wasn't sure who he was or what he was wanting from me. (i.e. Did he want to sell me a parrot, sell me a baby, just talk, or let me meet/handle his parrots?) I thought about not calling him, but I did, and boy am I glad!
I gave him a call after I got off work a few days ago. We talked for a good 10 minutes. First about what I was looking for: I told him I was just trying to handle/observe parrots because I want to get one as a pet, but I don't want to do so until I am absolutely ready. He acted like he admired this, and went on to tell me that he was in the same position as me many years ago and that no one wanted to help him out. He figured he would give me a chance and help me out. He lives less than an hour away from me. He told me that not only does he have parrots (Cockatoos, Macaws, and CUBAN Amazons!!!), but he also has (breeds, and raises)....... Falcons, Hawks, and Eagles!!!!! :11::11::11::11:
How cool is that?! He informed me that I am more than welcome to come check his place out, learn about the birds, etc.... AND: He told me he would let me hand feed baby Falcons!!
I am SO excited! I never dreamed I would get this lucky! My goal is to learn as much as I can about parrot body language... It's something you can't really "read" about, you need to experience it. I told him this, and he seemed to really understand what I'm looking to obtain from this experience. I'm so pumped! I will hopefully be visiting him this weekend!!
Just wanted to share my sheer joy with you guys!
