My Indian Ringneck has developed some sort of growth in the corner of his mouth\beak, at first I thought it was face mites, but I'm not to sure. I'm posting here cause maybe someone might know something, I'm very scared it could be life threatening. He's only 4 months old. If you have any information or anything, please feel free to let me know something! I'm sorry if the pictures are a bit blurry, my camera is not that good.

Even with your photos it is difficult to see what you are speaking about.

It's the left side of his beak, the brown\red looking thing. I assumed if it was mites, it would be on the other side too, but it isn't.

I agree take him to an AVIAN vet now, you said it yourself, if you thought it was life threatening you should have just taken him in rather than ask us.

Well, I don't have the money for a vet, I bought everything I could to get rid of the mites. Other than that, I can't do anything, I don't have the money as of right now to pay 200-500 for a vet.

Many times vets will allow you to make a payment arrangement with them for a certain percentate down. If you go to the vet, it may be something that can be easily treated with medicine. You wouldn't have to pay 200 to 500 unless it was something that needed major care and testing. Also if your in the US, there is something called care credit, its like a loan for pet health care. Do you have any other birds? If you do, I'd make sure you keep them separated until you know what this is.

I know when you are scared and money is an issue it may seem best to sit and wait, but trust me, that isn't the best option. If you don't go now, and it gets worse, the cost may be even greater to treat it once its progressed and you may be looking a life and death situation.

The most you'd be looking at agreeing to up front would be an office visit...You will get a lot of answers and peace of mind. If its something that is very expensive and care credit/payment arrangement isn't an option, maybe you can find someone who will adopt him for the cost of his care.

I do appreciate everything you have taken the time to tell me, I have talked to the person I bought the bird from he's been breeding for 30 years he's said he's never seen anything like it, It is not spreading which rules out mites. He also talked to 2 pet shop owners and they said it isn't mites either, I know you said it's not good to wait, but I am going to have too, till the end of the weekend to do anything.:blue1: I don't own any other birds, just a dog. I've been told to keep an eye on it, and keep treating for the mites as it cannot hurt only help him.
