Gris and skitzo don't seem to get along all the time. I thought it was skitzo doing the aggression but now watching its Gris. Both are females and both are under 6months old. If I separate them the flock call to each other and run back to be together, but if I leave them together they squabble sometimes. Even on the perch/gym they often choose different perches to sit on and do not sit together.

Is there some problem with budgies and parakeets getting along together? Cause Gris sure is grouchy

When I kept budgies, they often would squabble over perches and food. Other than that, and occasionally two hens ganging up on a male (not causing any damage, just chewing his feathers from different sides so he couldn't defend himself), they all got along fine. I've often had more females than males, as well.

If it's too much bickering and squabbling, you might try separate cages next to each other..... or try getting them a larger cage?

When you say Skitzo is a "parakeet" is she a Budgie like Gris, or a different KIND or species of Parakeet? If so, what kind?

My only experience with Budgies are the two males I have now. They're most likely around 2 yrs old. They used to share a cage, and basically got along, but one was always dominant, and that is normal with any living things. The only reason they don't share a cage now is Pix has an overeating issue and is on a doctor supervised diet (that's another subject though).

If they aren't tearing into each other, or if one isn't clearly intimidating or causing the other distress, I wouldn't see the need to separate them. They'll squabble a bit normally, but only you see them in person to see whether it seems too much or not.

I cant decide if gris is full English budgie or not, skitzo is just a normal small American parakeet.

Gris is different in a lot of ways than skitzo, her feathers are softer, eyes are slanted, she's larger by a small bit, she's very playful and loves her toys and bashes them a lot, chews on stuff..she's like a small parrot or large keet. It's like they are two different species who happen to look similar.

*edit* They don't spend a lot of time in the parakeet cage, it's more for sleeping. They sit on the big birds perch or go to Skippers very large cage and raid his food and toys or spend the day in there while skipper is out wandering around perches, they are left with a open door and can go where they want. It's obvious they want to be together but I guess they have some personal space issues lol. Squabbles aren't bad, there aren't feathers flying or stuff like that.
