Hello everybody.
Just signed up on the forums. Currently not owning a parrot but...
I became intrested in bird and parrot in general because of my grandfather.
He has around a dozen canaries and a cockatiel (i adopted a few canaries already).
I got interested in signing up on the site because i would love to adopt a Green-Cheeked Conure :green: . I've done my research and come to the conclusion i can't house him with my canaries. This is because i leave my canaries in an 'outdoor bird cage', and it can be pretty cold outside, but my canaries are as happy as always, even in the cold.
So my second option was to house him indoor, the only problem with that is that the house in.. well.. noisy, even in the late evening. So i tought, in the guess room, big window, decent lighting, not to hot or cold . So that solved my problem.
But i've read on some sites these parrots are quiet light sleepers. Will it be a problem if i live at a buzy steet? Because car and lorry/truck noises can be pretty loud at some points in time...

I'm really looking forward to raise and train a parrot. I think it is very satisfying to have a well trained friend.

Lets hope I will learn alot on this forum :)
Cheers

BTW: sorry for the crappy english. not my foreign language.

Hi there, Welcome to the forums!

I wouldn't house a GCC with canaries if they were all inside.

Most parrots are adaptable to reasonable noise levels, especially if they are exposed to the noises at a young age.

Good luck with your new adventure.

You have no reason to apologize for your english. Enjoy your stay on the forums.

Welcome also!
I agree with all of the above, but wanted to add, a conure would be a member of your family and would be most happy in the middle of everything!

Will the urban noisy area be a problem for the bird (at night)?
