1 little corella called Turtle
Greetings all! So happy to have found you. I am a surprise bird owner (surprise as in I did not realise I would become a bird owner, thinking I would go the conventional route of having a canine companion). The husband and I own two cockatiels; freebies from his mother who keeps aviary birds. Noodle is a darling and we got him first; Birdy Girl is a stroppy but at times a very sweet thing (and no name seemed to fit her personality, hence the very uncreative moniker). Our latest and final addition to our avian family is a short billed Corella called Turtle. He's not yet 1 year old and doesn't not hold the other two 'tiels very warmly in his heart, although he is an incredibly affectionate thing, easily excitable, talking quite a bit (though enunciation is very rough still) and very easy with hands and people.
I never knew birds could be such a delight, and their antics are even more hilarious than those I have seen from dogs and cats. When husband and I got married this year, the cockatiels became an unintentional theme and we gave crocheted pairs of 'tiels in our birds' colours to the guests as favours; the name cards had 'tiel feathers glued to them; and the favour bags were decorated with 'tiel silhouette stickers. Birds have undeniably become a part of our life and our identity
