My name is Scott,
I come here in the interest of finding helpful advice in the ownership of my Conure.
I Currently own 2 Parakeets (1 male named Beryl, and one Female named 'little bird'), and 1 Turquoise Green Cheek Conure, whose name is Paddy. Paddy was born on March 17th, 2010.
Paddy took to me more so then my wife. He loves my company and is always excited to see me. If my wife has him out of the cage when I wake up, the second I come out of the bedroom door, he will screech and fly to my head. He willingly flys free around the house when we are home, whenever I am home he usually hangs around me.
He enjoys sitting around and nibbling on stuff while I work on the computer, and is infact trying to eat the keyboard right now... lol I try to let him do what he wants, and he seems to be generally very well behaved. One of the problems I am having however is that he seems to nibble my fingers sometimes. I think its part of his grooming behaviour, which I don't mind. But lately he has been biting harder and in some cases has been nicking skin off. I have found if I lightly pinch his beek with my other fingers when he is doing it, he will stop. But I was mainly curious if anyone knew why he would do this, and how to train him to stop.
A little about me... I am a Communications technician, and very into technology. I am also interested in hiking and the outdoors, trains, and the emergency services.
