Hi everyone!

My name is Viivi and I live in Finland, so yes I'm Finnish, and I have parrots. I don't know how many of the members here are from somewhere else cept USA, it would be fun to know. If you're already wondering my relationship with parrots I can say right away that yes, owning parrots here in north is odd. I don't know a single friend or relative who would own parrots, and the parrot community here is awfully small. The reason why I signed up to this forum is my lack of taking care of my birds for at least the past 7 years (my mother has just feeding them and cleaning their closet cage). I've felt horrible guilt for not being a good bird owner, and right now, after my parents' divorce and moving in to a new home with the birds, I've decided to make my birds lives at least tolerable again.

I could babble on and on about my birds history and how we ended up getting parrots in the first place, how I grew up with them and the many losses we've faced, but I guess there is a time and place for that later (if one would occur).

Anyway, I'm super happy to finally have the time to put some effort in my birds well-being and getting to know the real life of a bird owner. Cheers!

We also own a cat and a dog, Kisu and Don. As you can see, they're pretty laid-back.

Welcome Viivi! I have seen other parrot lovers from your part of the world before ;) There are bird lovers everywhere! There are people from all over the world here too.

Welcome Vivi. I'm a fairly new member myself - from Texas USA. I was interested in member's locations too and found out you can use the search tool for look ups.

Hey Vivi , welcome to the forum.

Every time I see a new member, I always look to see where in the world they're from.:)
I'm sure some people want to be private for their own reasons, but so many people leave it blank, that I wonder if most people just don't see it?

:) If you read this and you don't mind people knowing what country or US state you're from, why not go under User CP and put it in? :D

p.s. Sheryl, I have a cousin who works for NASA and lives in Seabrook, TX. I've never been to TX myself.

Hello Vivi from Alberta, Canada:)
So glad you joined us!

@RavensGryf - I also look immediately to see where everyone is from:)

Hyvää päivää, Viivi, from your neighbor Estonian! :D I'm from Tallinn, but I've lived in USA for a while. What parrots do you have? I also don't know anybody in Estonia who has parrots (except parakeets - they are fairly popular there). Welcome to the club! :)

Oh my goodness -- another case of small world! I'm glad to hear your cousin has held on to his job with all the cuts at NASA. You must put Texas on your bucket list.

I already have Texas on my bucket list :) I want to keep in touch with my cousin, and I have a friend there.

I guess he's had seniority? He's been there a while. He was one of those smart 'rocket scientist' guys right out of high school, and got his masters in mechanical engineering as quickly as possible, so you can say he became successful at a very young age.
Is Seabrook by NASA headquarters? I'd never heard of it before he moved there. He originally went to Texas for that job.
