Parrots
African Grey - unnamed
I'm sitting here wondering if I'm allowed to use any font I'd like, but I don't want to step on anybody's tails. Didn't see anything in the guides about fonts.

I mean... Hello. Thought I'd join a forum for tips, help, socializing or to just keep the love I have for my friend (parrot) thriving.

A little backstory: My mother suddenly brought an African Grey home... 5-6 years ago? I don't remember. She means well, but she's not the most studious person. Didn't do much research and such, not that internet savvy. That parrot was very sweet, friendly... But I'm sad to say didn't live long. Apparently died when I was abroad for university.

I tried to help of course, but parents don't listen to their children. She's still upset, misses her parrot.

About me: I deleted the whole paragraph I wrote here. I don't think people would be interested.

My bird friend: I also have an African Grey, long story... To be honest, I feel bad. Anyway, I haven't officially named her (just guessing she's female, don't really know) but I like the name Shizuka, personally. Been here for a few months now (5? 6?) Vet says she's healthy thankfully.

Picky eater, likes raw sweet potatoes, not cooked (how I like them :p). I keep her cage open unless lots of strangers visit, I don't feel great about trapping her inside unless necessary. She has wooden perches on the outside that she likes. Destroys toys way too often.

She's young. She doesn't like getting picked up, or carried or anything (yet?) but she loves getting petted and kissed, or gently hugged while on her perches. I shower spray her every 2 or 3 days while she's inside her cage.

Good grief. That seems like a long post, I do apologize. It's a pleasure being around you all, hope to make plenty of friends on here.

You've come to the right place. For species specific advice and topics, go to one of the subforums. Greys have one. We also HIGHLY recommend going to the Amazon sub forum, and reading the entire stickie post at the top, titled "I love Amazons" , it has tons of great information on every topic on the keeping of healthy parrots, not just Amazons. We suggest that you sit by your parrot, and read it out loud to them in a nice pleasing voice. It will make a difference in your and your parrots life. Welcome aboard !

Welcome to you. I like the name Shizuka too :). Lots of great info and people here - and just FYI....we are interested to hear about you as well!

Welcome to the forums, thanks for joining and sharing your story!!

You are welcome to use any font desired, we respectfully ask you choose to ensure legibility. Some members enjoy via phone or tablet devices with limited screen size.

Welcome! We love Parrots! This is a very active forum too.

Welcome! I think you're gonna love us. :)

Welcome. Parrot ownership is such a fun challenge. I love learning and researching personally, which I think is necessary when living with an exotic pet. They aren’t easy but they are forever interesting and rewarding

Im jealous, my CAG wont play with toys, she likes chewing my house, believe me toys are a lot cheaper than fixing up the house all of the time!!!!

No need to be apologetic too, if you love birds, you will get along just fine on this forum.
