Hello everyone,

I am Renee. Although I don't own a parrot myself I am currently looking after an African Grey. The reason why I joined this forum however, is a green winged macaw owned by a friend. This person did not look into this species at all and just got the bird because it was offered. In its previous home, it was with a couple and their daughter. The daughter was the macaws favorite (and also owner). However, she decided to move to Australia and the macaw was left alone, in a separate room. It started to pluck its feathers and has not stopped since. In its new home it has became worse. The person he got a bit attached to, he bites now. He screams a lot and seems absolutely miserable. I am looking for a new place for this macaw. I can't bear seeing him so miserable. I am looking for a parrot lover, anywhere in Ireland who is willing to loo after him. He has all the papers required.

How sad - that poor MAC. Sadly, this is one of so many stories in which the Parrot gets left behind.

Thank-you, for what you are doing. Do you have a written document from the owner that states that 'they' are releasing this MAC into your authority to find this Green Wing a new home? If not get it in writing! Avoid creating an interest until you have that covered.

Welcome to the heartless side of the Parrot World!

Welcome to the forums, Renee! Thanks for caring so much for the well being of this forgotten macaw. Green wings are typically the sweetest and best mannered of the species.

This bird will require a loving and experienced home where proper behavior modification may transform him into a treasured companion. Good luck with the search!
