Green Cheek flew into ceiling fan

So my 11 month old Green Cheek Conure, who I've been attempting to flight, got spooked and flew frantically into a mid-speed ceiling fan, then flew back down and landed onto a table. She had a line of dust on her head, presumably from the blade- but she isn't showing any signs of injury or anything. I called the vet and they said just to watch what she does.

It's been about 15 minutes since the incident, and she ate a walnut and is preening on my shoulder as I type this. I did a mild inspection by lightly touching her in various places and she showed no distress.

If there is anything I am missing or need to know please inform me, anything helps!:gcc:

I would be worried but it's a good sign that she is normal so far. Try to keep the room warmer (not hot, but maybe a few degrees warmer....with household thermostat). Keep things calm and just watch. If a bird is in shock or sick, sometimes dim lighting is recommended, but if things are good so far, I wouldn't worry about that part yet... If you do dim the lights, she might act odd and freak you out (so only do that if you start seeing odd behavior).

NEVER have any fans going when a bird is out.

If your bird has flown into an operating ceiling fan and suffered no ill effects you can consider yourself extremely lucky indeed! Time to invest in a floor standing pedestal fan with a protective grille all around and NEVER use that ceiling fan again.

If it was me I’d probably be inclined to have a vet check her out anyway for safety’s sake. I hope she continues to be ok!

Sound like she may have just glazed the blade, but would keep a eye on her and sign are usually she be off balance, or not acting normal. Good thing is you stated she seem normal. Never turn on ceiling fan while birds are out as anything could spook them and then a accident happens. I use a regular pedestal fan to circulate air if needed.

Thanks so much for the replies I was worried sick. The worse part was I have remote control ceiling fans in my downstairs living room, and I turned them off as I was about to go downstairs- so they were only spinning because they were turning off :c She's still acting just fine ^^
