2 green cheeks 1 hybrid one mutation
i have to green cheek conures the female doesn't necessarily go into any type of nesting box unless i put food in it and the male is so scared of it he wont go within 2 feet of it what would happen if they want to lay eggs.
im going to post pictures of the two soon.

I hope you realize, as we've mentioned before, that your two birds are too young to breed.

Ideally, the hen should be around 18-24 months old. As per your posts, she's about 6-7 months old and far too young to breed.

Please, remove the nest box, and wait a year!

there is no box currently but the breeder i bought the male from took out a box put it there and the male doesnt like it the female is okay with it its never been in there cage the female has only ever seen it once i dont plan on them using it now or even for a while i was just curious if they did lay eggs in the future and the male doesnt like the nesting box then what to do i wasnt planning on breeding anytime soon;)

When they're old enough, they'll look for a place to breed, ie. the next box. At this time, there's no reason for them to be in a very tight space.

yes i know theres no way i wouldve started breeding them now i forgot to mention that i was just saying that now they dont like it what would they do then

Don't panic they won't breed until they are ready.

I have a pair of GCC that are only 12 months old & they have a nestbox because that is where they sleep at night. They will not breed until next year anyway. I also have another pair that sleep in a happy hut. I give all my conures either a box or happy hut to sleep in. I have never had problems with them breeding until their 2nd year with the GCC & 3rd year with the suns.

If the nestbox is left in their cage as part of the furniture, they will get used to it being there.

My GCC won't sleep in anything! She just sleeps curled up next to a bark toy.

bubbaanddaisy, you're a bit confusing... you say you didn't provide them with a nesting box and yet you're also saying that they have no interest in a nesting box? As mentioned, when they are interested in breeding, they'll look for a place to have a nest at.

Aquila, that's perfectly fine. A lot of birds don't have anything to sleep in due to hazards (i.e. dangers of a happy hut) or hormones/territory (i.e. a box). All my birds sleep on the highest perches available at night.

Hi I mentiond above that I should've been more clear and I explained how I did the person I bought the male from put a nesting box with the two birds and the female didn't like staying near for a whole and the male was scared so bad he ran away and the breeder told me the same thing thanks
