Just how I wanted to spend my morning, moping blood off the floor. Don't worry, everyone is fine now. I had the pretty chicken with me, and Mango was hanging out on top of his cage, until he wasn't. He decided to jump for the floor to explore.

I think he caught his wing on the back of the couch when he glided down past it, but however it happened, he broke a blood feather. Luckily, I have taught my daughter what corn starch is and where we keep it, so she was able to go grab it for me while I put pressure on the feather. Once I got the corn starch on it, it quit bleeding pretty quick.

I'm gonna keep a close eye on him today, just to make sure it doesn't start bleeding again, but I think he'll be fine. Hopefully the day improves from here.

Truly a great start and to add to that - a great save! Congrats on teaching your young lady on providing help during an emergency! Can't start early enough and it will stay with her and support her during her entire life!

I'm glad everything is okay now with Mango :). It's also good to keep a pair of hemostats in case of an emergency where you have to pull one.

Thanks, Julie, I will have to order a pair or two next week. That is something I don't have.

Ouch what a close call!! I had a similar incident when my BFA made a bad landing and actually tore the flesh on his lil butt bone. Didn't notice the bleeding at first .. wife had returned him to top of his cage and when I came back in the room I saw something dripping. It amazes me they can be sitting there injured and make NO indication whatsoever. Cookie didn't appreciate me snatching him up.. applying pressure while wifey ran to get the jar of diatmous (sp) earth. I stopped the bleeding and stayed up for hours watching him close. It was a LOT of blood but surprisingly he was just fine. Tuff lil critters they are. Great job you did there!!!
